about

Written on January 29, 2018.

This was inspired by the music made on Burundian instrument known as an 'inanga' which is kind-of like an 8-string harp made by stringing bits of cattle flesh across a hollowed tree log.

The title is inspired by my experiences at the NAMM (National Association of Music Instruments) convention I've attended for the last few years. I wanted to have something that was the opposite of the sounds I heard at this function.

Also, the title further fits since I used the business card of someone I met while attending the convention to prepare the guitar.

This was performed solo on my Orpheus Valley classical guitar. The top four strings were prepared with a business card to create a muted, percussive effect and the bottom two were significantly drop-tuned to the point of slacking against the neck when plucked. The notes were random.
